I gave two lectures for the NSTP students these past two Saturdays. For the first lecture, I discussed the 1987 Constitution provisions on citizenship, RA 9255 or the dual citizenship law, and the celebrated case of Tecson vs. Comelec (the issue of Fernando Poe Jr's citizenship). Yesterday, I discussed relevant laws on social concerns like RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004, RA 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law, and RA 9344 or the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006. Among the social concerns I discussed were that 40% of couples in the CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) are merely living in, and according to an NGO, 30% of Filipino children will suffer from sexual abuse before reaching the age of 18. The lectures were coordinated by Mrs. Coty Cataluna, NSTP instructor.
